Louise Nevelson: Light and Shadow – A Conversation with Laurie Wilson
How does a Yiddish-speaking young girl in Maine become one of the most important artists of the 20th century? Learn the incredible story of Louise Nevelson’s life, inspirations, and impact on the art world with art historian and psychoanalyst Laurie Wilson, who conducted hours of interviews with Nevelson and her circle. The event includes an exploration of Nevelson’s Sky Covenant sculpture at the entrance of Temple Israel, one of only three public Nevelson works in Massachusetts.
Greg Cook, arts editor for WBUR’s arts and culture ARTery website who has also written for The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Art & Antiques, and Juxtapose, will moderate our discussion with Laurie.
Special guest Helene Bailen, JArts leader and MFA docent, will also share insight into the beginnings of Sky Covenant.
