Pathways to Freedom: The Opening Celebration

Join us for a celebration of Julia Vogl’s Pathways to Freedom public art piece! Toast and remarks at 6:40pm followed by a visit to the site.

About Pathways to Freedom:

Acclaimed social sculptor, Julia Vogl, engaged a broad multi-cultural audience from across the city in a dialogue about freedom and immigration in Boston.

The final piece reflects 1,800 conversations she had across the Greater Boston area, asking people from all backgrounds about their journeys to freedom. Drawing inspiration from these stories, Vogl created this larger than life visual representation on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Boston Common. Incorporating audio recordings, the piece allows all to share in Boston’s immigrant experience.
