Eating Our Way Through Israel

by Laura Mandel

Cooking with savtas/bubbies/grandmas, exploring the world’s freshest tahini, so many kinds of Arak, foraging and cooking a meal in the Galil – these were a few highlights of the JArts – Israeli American Council January 2018 exploratory culinary tour of Israel. Traveling with Boston’s beloved chefs Michael Leviton and Tony Maws, on an incredible tour by the new Via Sabra tour company called In Search of Israeli Cuisine 2.0 (if you haven’t seen this documentary, watch it now), we ate and experienced a diversity and depth of Israeli culture unlike any I have experienced in years of visiting Israel. Enjoy a sampling of photos that walk you through some of what we experienced (if you’re curious enough to want a taste, we will be creating an opportunity for next year! Email if you want to join.)
